HYDERABAD: Telangana Rashtra Samithi chief K Chandrasekhar Rao who is seeking people's mandate for continuing as chief minister for the second straight term filed his nomination papers at Gajwel, while his nephew, party leader, and minister in the previous cabinet T Harish Rao filed his nomination at Siddipet Wednesday afternoon.

Following the tradition of placing the nomination papers at the feet of deity at Venkateswara Swamy temple at Konaipally temple and offering special prayers before filing nominations, the chief minister
visited the temple along with Harish Rao before heading to their respective constituencies.

The CM who was present inside returning officer Vijayender Reddy's office in Gajwel between 2.21 pm and 2.55 pm is learnt to have filed two sets of nominations. One proposed by ex-ZP chairman Laxmi Kantha Rao was submitted at 2.33 pm, another proposed by Nacharam temple chairman K Yadagiri was submitted at 2.35 p.m. In the presence of election agent and childhood friend Jahangir, the CM took an oath in the name of God at 2.39 p.m.

Similarly, Harish Rao too filed his nomination between 2.34 and 2.45 pm at the office of returning officer Jayachandra Reddy in Siddipet.

Seeking the blessings of electors after offering special prayers at the temple, KCR appealed for the pink party's massive victory with 100 seats. Speaking to media, he vowed in the name of Lord Venkateswara to
make farmers of Telangana the wealthiest and exuded confidence in party's success. On Harish Rao, KCR said the minister has done a great job in the constituency and everyone must ensure he wins with a
thumping majority of over one lakh votes.

Back in 1983 when KCR was the then TDP candidate from Siddipet Assembly constituency, he used to visit the temple and perform special prayers keeping the nomination papers at the feet of Lord
Venkateswara. Since then, for KCR, who is considered a deeply religious person, a visit to the temple has become a must before elections.
