BJP promises Yogi-style development in Telangana

It also looks like the saffron party wants to bring Telangana on the lines of UP, led by BJP man Yogi Adityanath, for it seems to have planned a series of ‘name changes’ if it comes to power.

HYDERABAD: While other parties are promising the moon to lure voters, the saffron party has chosen to go with gomata and Sanskrit. Days after BJP promised to distribute 1 lakh cows per year in Telangana if voted to power, it has now promised early introduction of Sanskrit in school. “We will have Sanskrit introduced from Class-V in school,” BJP manifesto committee chairman NVS Prabhakar has said, adding that yoga would be a part of the curriculum.

Despite receiving flak for the cow idea, Prabhakar feels his party’s manifesto will help “one find purpose in life”. It is not sure if parents, especially those who migrated to the city for work and already burdened with the idea of compulsory Telugu education in schools, would receive the BJP proposal with much enthusiasm.

It also looks like the saffron party wants to bring Telangana on the lines of UP, led by BJP man Yogi Adityanath, for it seems to have planned a series of ‘name changes’ if it comes to power. “If Allahabad, Bombay and Calcutta can be renamed, then why not those in Telangana,” argues Prabhakar.

“The change of name is not to ‘saffronize’ but present the right history of these places,” he claimed.
Prabhakar added that places, where agitations for separate Telangana was taken up, would also be identified. After all these ‘jabs’ Prabhakar claimed the BJP would “promote” welfare of Muslims and Christians.
