NIZAMABAD: There seems to be no end to infighting in the Congress. Ever since it initiated the idea of Grand Alliance and seating sharing talks with partners, protests against the party leadership’s decisions have been continuing unabated. In Nizamabad district for instance, the party has finalised the names of candidates for nine Assembly constituencies. But as expected the high command’s decision have not been welcomed by all. In fact, some local leaders and their followers are so disappointed that they are said to in a rebellious mood.

Several ticket aspirants of Nizamabad urban Assembly, including K Subash Reddy (who was aspiring for Yellareddy ticket) and A Malayadri Reddy (Banswada) are likely to contest as Congress rebels in the elections. To make matters worse for the grand old party, these ‘rebel’ leaders are said to be in touch with Adilabad district leader Boda Janardhan, who has already announced launch of a Congress ‘Rebel Front’ in the State.

Interestingly, Nizamabad DCC president Taher Bin Hamdan was given the Nizamabad Urban ticket under minority quota.   It is being considered a major surprise as Taher was not the front runner as there were as many three other aspirants in the form of TPCC general secretary B Mahesh Kumar Goud, former TPCC secretary N Rathnakar and City Congress Committee president Kesh Venu.  All these leaders have been lobbying for the ticket with AICC for the last two years.
