HYDERABAD: The Bahujan Left Front (BLF) surely knows how to turn heads to its election war room. After giving a party ticket for the first time to a trans woman and to persons with disability (PWD), the BLF is making a mark with its manifesto.

In a revolutionary move, the Front has promised that the minimum salary for any employment, in the private or public sector, would be fixed at Rs 18,000 in the organised sector. This, the document says, would be done through an amendment to labour laws.

The Front has also promised to implement reservation policies in the private sector. The Left parties have also decided to hike the assistance for persons with disabilities to Rs 5,000 a month, from the Rs 3,016 promised by TRS and Rs 2,000 by Congress.

The front also declared to give Rs 3,000 assistance to every person above 50 years of age as old-age pension.
If the TRS has promised to give 3-acre land to the Dalits, the BLF proposes to give the same chunk of land to anyone who is poor. It is also set to give a working opportunity for transgenders and has promised to protect their rights.

Electricity is a major giveaway if the front assumes power in the ensuing elections. The BLF proposes to give 100 units of free electricity. If there is electricity consumption beyond 200 units, the first 100 units will be free.

The blockbuster Rs 5 meal started in Hyderabad and later implemented in Amaravati will be extended across all the Panchayaths in the State if the BLF wins.State convenor Thammineni Veerabhadram said the front would take the manifesto to the people of Telangana and ensure that “Dr BR Ambedkar’s vision for people is fulfilled.”

Unlike the small parties who release manifestos but do not abide by it after elections, we will ensure that the manifesto will be implemented when we come to power.”
