Former beauty queen and actress Aishwarya Rai turned 40 Friday and said that to make her birthday meaningful she associates herself with some social cause on the occasion.

She said: "Normally, whatever social cause we do, we don't talk about it. I have learned from my parents to do some social cause to make it more meaningful. This year I was involved with children."

The "Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam" and "Devdas" actress held a celebration with journos at her residence Janak here.

"I would like to take this opportunity to thank media for coming here. It's very sweet. Thanks for all the love," said the actress recently seen in new Prestige pressure cooker ads with husband and actor Abhishek Bachchan.
