Queen of controversy Rakhi Sawant now wears her love for Modi on her sleeve, oops, bottom! In her latest of attention-seeking stunts, the dance-show judge attended a pre-independence day celebration, halfway around the world in Chicago, wearing a customised LBD featuring Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s pictures all over it, with a mug of his right on her derriere.
As soon as she uploaded a picture of herself posing in the little black dress on Instagram, Twitterati took to expressing their outrage about her lack of character, in 140 characters.
While several people found her sartorial choice plain distasteful, many said it was awfully disrespectful to Modi.
Before you conclude that Rakhi’s act was one of protest or an attempt to make a statement about the PM’s policies, the organiser of the event clarifies that the TV personality is an open-minded person and was only expressing her patriotism.
One of the other organisers, Iftekhar Shareef, trustee of Federation of Indian Associations, Chicago, however was not amused. He flayed Rakhi Sawant for her “ignorant act”.
He told a news site, “I’m sure the Consulate General will take action on this, since he has always been very particular about the rules and there is an official code of ethics. I am demanding the Consulate should take action on this. Having the Prime Minister’s picture on your body in a half dress in this way just unacceptable.”
Whatever may ensue, it seems like Modi’s got her back.
