Sachin-Lata video: Tanmay Bhat responds to backlash via Twitter and Snapchat

In one of his tweets, he asks Snapchat to pay him, most likely referring to the increased traffic to his profile in the app.

Following backlash to his controversial Snapchat video that mocked master blaster Sachin Tendulkar and veteran singer Lata Mangeshkar, AIB comedian Tanmay Bhat took to Twitter to post his response, in a series of (snarky) tweets.

The comedian took a jibe at the video going viral and making headlines, despite the 'almost' unanimous backlash against him.

In one of his tweets, he asks Snapchat to pay him, most likely referring to the increased traffic to his profile in the app.

Pointing at the irony of the situation, Tanmay mentions that a Snapchat video has made it the national news, despite more pressing issues in the country, that require more coverage.

Tanmay also responded to a few tweets taking pot shots at him and his responses were nothing short of wit.

He recalled the previous controversy that AIB was embroiled in and had this to say. (Translation: "I am reminded of the Roast days, by God")

The comedian also posted  3 videos on Snapchat in which he issued a statement, tried to justify his stand and called for support.

Full text of Tanmay's Snapchat response where he asks for viewers' opinion:

  • "Hey guys, for those of you who actually enjoyed the Sachin vs Lata Civil War story, can you please record a video and send it to this ID please?"
  • "I think, I'm gonna try and use this opportunity to make a point about this whole situation."
  • "Just tell me if you found the video funny and what it is that made you laugh."
