Manoj Bajpayee bags the best actor award at asia pacific screen

The actor won for his performance in Hansal Mehta’s film, Aligarh.

The 10th Asia Pacific Screen Awards committee honoured Manoj Bajpayee with the best actor award for his performance in Hansal Mehta’s film, Aligarh.

The award ceremony was held in Brisbane. Bajpayee had given a fine performance while playing the 64 years old gay professor Dr Shrinivas Ramchandra Siras, who was detained from his job due to his sexual orientation. The movie was based on the true story of an Aligarh professor, Dr Siras.

This year 78 countries were competing with each other at the Asia Pacific screen awards, and Bajpayee managed to get the Best Actor award.

Expressing his happiness, Manoj Bajpayee said, “I am extremely happy and honoured to receive this award at the prestigious 10th Asia Pacific Screen Awards.  It is an overwhelming feeling when such a prominent award which is better known as the Indian Oscar has recognised my performance.  Such awards strive me to work harder and keep entertaining my audiences”
