Being producer involves lot of hard work: Sonu Sood

This is my first film as a producer and I have realised that it involves a lot of hard work, Says Sood

Engineer-turned actor Sonu Sood has now become a film producer. The multi-tasker will also be seen grooving along with Prabhu Deva and Tamannaah in his debut production, Tutak Tutak Tutiya. Did you plan on producing films? I feel things just happen; you don’t plan them. I was pursuing my engineering career before I got into acting and now I have become a producer.

This is my first film as a producer and I have realised that it involves a lot of hard work. You have to work night and day on music, costumes, other production work — it’s a difficult job. But I have also learnt a lot from this fi lm and all because of my team. They made life easier.

Why did you choose the comic genre for your first production? We are offering a mixture of horror and comedy with music — it defi nes a complete entertainer. I feel this genre has not been explored much. What’s the reason behind naming the fi lm Tutak Tutak Tutiya? We had thought about a different title but this fi lm is essentially a mystery. I was born in Punjab and have been brought up there; and many people will relate to this title.

The film has a lot of funny and comic elements so no other title suits the fi lm. Your fi lm’s version of the song is different from the original Tutak Tutak Tutiya song. The original song is by Malkit Singh but we have recreated this song for our fi lm. We went ahead only after taking the rights for the original song.

Do the Telugu and Tamil versions have the same supporting actors? All the supporting actors have been changed to suit the language. After completing the Hindi take, the Tamil supporting actors would give the shot and then the Telugu actors would take over.

There was a lot of planning and programming for which the credit goes to director A L Vijay sir. Was it intimidating to dance along with Prabhu Deva? Prabhu sir and I rehearsed together; I would insist on many rehearsals. I have worked with him in two of his directorial ventures — the way he presents his actors is phenomenal. Will you produce Punjabi films too? I would love to produce not just Punjabi fi lms but fi lms in other languages too. Will you be showing this trailer to Jackie Chan with whom you are working in Kung Fu Yoga? Defi nitely. In fact, he is the one who unveiled the fi rst look of this film.
