Sixth edition of Kolhapur International Film Festival to be held from Dec 14

The eight-day-long 6th Kolhapur International Film Festival will be held from December 14 at Shahu Smarak Bhavan.

KOLHAPUR: The eight-day-long 6th Kolhapur International Film Festival will be held from December 14 at Shahu Smarak Bhavan.

The Festival has been organised jointly by Kalamarshi Baburao Painter Film Society (KBPFC) and All India Marathi Film Industry Corporation.

Chandrakant Joshi, senior Marathi film director and KBPFC president, said in a statement here on Saturday 
that foreign films from countries, including France, South Africa, Spain, Hungary, Iran, Japan and Vietnam will be screened in this film festival.

He added that films in different regional languages such as Malayalam, Bengali, Hindi and Kannada will be screened in 'Vivid Bharti' section of the festival.

While in 'My Marathi' section, seven new non-exhibited Marathi films will be screened, he informed.

The best Marathi film, best director, actor, actress and screenplay awards, to be selected by the viewers, will be announced during the festival.

Mr Joshi also said on the occasion of centenary of Kolhapur Marathi Film industry, a film movement will be held throughout the year.

On this occasion, an exhibition of nameplates of then directors, technicians and scenes from old Marathi films, produced by the Maharashtra Film Company, will also be held during the festival.

Two prestigious awards -- Kalamarshee Baburao Painter and Anandrao Painter -- will be given away to two senior film personalities, including a director and film technician respectively.

The names of awardees will be announced later, he added.
