The team of Dutt Biopic has wrapped up the Bhopal schedule of the film that stars Ranbir Kapoor in the lead. The filmmaker shot for the jail sequences in an abandoned jail in Bhopal. “After Sanjay told me his story we did a lot of research. We even spoke to the police officers and his family members to know other side of the story. When we finished the script, we narrated it to Sanju. Trust me, I have worked with Sanjay Dutt thrice and never has he cried during a narration. But after listening to this script, he broke down and told me ‘Dhai ghante main tumne meri saari zindagi bata di’.”
Writer Abhijat Joshi believes that Ranbir’s performance in the film will be remembered for long. “Dutt Biopic is one of our greatest works till date. Each and every incident in Sanjay Dutt’s life deserves a different film. We have rolled everything into one and this is the greatest challenge of our lives; this would be the greatest direction of Rajkumar Hirani’s life.After the film everybody will talk about Ranbir’s performance,” said Joshi.

Hirani also shared that he wanted to make Munnabhai 3 after PK (2014). “We had started working on Munnabhai 3 and at that time, Sanjay Dutt came out on parole and narrated his story which was very engaging. It has several relationships like father-son and friendship, which excited me as a director. But I promise that after Dutt Biopic, my next film would be Munnabhai 3. Abhijat is writing the script of Munnabhai currently,” said Hirani. The Dutt Biopic is slated for a Christmas 2017 release.
