The trailer of De De Pyaar De was launched on the occasion of Ajay Devgn’s 50th Birthday yesterday. The romantic comedy stars Ajay in the role of a middle-aged man who falls in love with a young girl, played by Rakul Preet.

Tabu, last seen in Sriram Raghavan’s AndhaDhun, plays the role of Ajay’s ex-wife. The supporting cast includes Javed Jafferi, Alok Nath, Jimmy Sheirgill and Angela Krislinzki. The film is directed by debutant Akiv Ali and produced by Luv Ranjan.

“I could not have asked for a better debut. Shooting De De Pyaar De with the stellar star cast of Ajay, Tabu and Rakul has made this journey extremely delightful. It’s a double celebration for us to launch our trailer on Ajay’s birthday and we are glad to share this with the audience,” Akiv said at the launch.

“This film is a fun romcom. It’s not exactly a love story. I’m not sure if I have done this genre before, but it was fabulous,” Ajay said. On returning in a comic avatar after a long time, he added, “I think sense of humour is important in cinema. Without it, I wouldn’t have gone far.”

De De Pyaar De is scheduled for release on May 17. It features a collaborative soundtrack by Amaal Mallik, Rochak Kohli, Tanishk Bagchi, and others. The title alludes to a Kishore Kumar song in the 1984 film Shaarabi.
