Isha warms to Sandalwood charms again

Isha Koppikar or Bollywood’s Khallas girl made her mark in Kannada films with O Nanna Nalle, Suryavamsha and Hoo Anthiya Uhoo Anthiya back in 2000.

A few films in Hindi later, she settled into married life with hotelier Timmy Narang. Isha is now back in action as Durga Bhavani in the film Looti to be directed by Girish Kamplapur.

The actress who is currently in Bangalore shooting for the Kannada film is happy to have bagged Looti as a comeback vehicle in Sandalwood. Girish says, “I was looking for a tough character to play the role of an ACP. Since I knew Isha from the time she started in Sandalwood, I approached her with the script and she liked the offer.” Isha adds, “It has been a really a long time since I worked in the Kannada industry. After marriage, I got busy with my hospitality business and only this year, I started with my first Marathi film and now I am here to be part of Looti. It is great to be back. I play an ACP in this woman-oriented subject and it was nice to know that director Girish thought of me to play a tough cop.”

Isha has previously played a similar role in Kya Kool Hai Hum. “That was more of a comedy. As Durga Bhavani in Looti, it’s about the thrill,” says the actress. Apart from Isha, Dhruv, Dileep and Shweta Pandit are part of the ensemble cast. B Jayashree will be playing an important role. Upendra and wife Priyanka and K Manju attended Looti’s launch party hosted recently at Indirangar Club.

Hope Isha brings with her the same charisma she did to Sandalwood 13 years ago.
