BANGALORE: Known for stealing fans' hearts with his lover boy portrayals, Ganesh will now try his hand at essaying a completely different character — the serious sort who has very little to say except through fight sequences in his film, Style King.

The actor, however, will also play the romantic hero too. Director P C Shekhar says, "In the title, 'style' is for the lover boy and 'king' is for the more rugged mafia king, a kind of role that's a first for him."

The filmmaker promises though that even though he'll play the action hero part, it's fairly realistic. "The moment he hits one person, five people aren't sent flying off," he describes, emphasising that it's more subtle than that.

Shekhar explains that he wanted to see Ganesh in a different avatar, for which he hasn't taken references from any other flicks. "I keep in mind an actor's career history. After working with him for Romeo, I realised that he's very good with facial expressions. I thought I could work with that. For this character, he will be crude and quiet. Since he has his hands full with other projects too for the next five or six months, he hasn't been able to work on a special mafia look. So I've created it artificially," he adds.

Shekhar says it took him five months and seven attempts to get this look right.

And, coupled with the title, the director believes that he's achieved the right effect. "I've got good feedback so far. The promo is ready, and will be released on August 8, during the mahurta," he says before signing off.
