BANGALORE: Director M D Sridhar wasted no time in bringing in another heroine for Ganesh’s 25th film Buguri. Vedhika Kumar, who had confirmed her role in the film, had to back out because of date clashes. Now it is said that new girl Arundathi will be working opposite Ganesh.

Arundathi made her acting debut as Padmavathi in 2010 in a Kannada film Kolminchu, followed by K Mudduraj’s Khadak. She went on to settle in Kollywood and made her debut in S A Chandrasekhar’s production Veluthu Kattu. “I am Padmavathi at home and Arundathi will be my on-screen name. It was Vijay’s father Chandrasekhar who gave me the name Arundathi and I want to retain it,” she says.

Though recently she was part of a couple of Kannada films like Aantharya and Agraja, Buguri with Ganesh will only raise the bar for the actress. “I am excited because the opportunity came to me unexpectedly. The director saw my pictures and went through my career profile. He along with the PRO came to Chennai and they got the agreement sorted out. I guess it happened because of god’s blessings, as  I was told to do a pooja at home and that is when the director arrived to confirm my role,” she says.

The actress is also looking forward to the release of her next film Netru Indru in Tamil. “I will be in Chennai to promote my Tamil film that is releasing on June 20 and will join the sets of Buguri from June 21. I made mistakes in the beginning of my career by taking up wrong projects, especially in Kannada. I would not want to repeat the mistakes anymore. A film like Buguri will be an opportunity for me to prove myself in Sandalwood,” she says.
