Weekends are for Bigg Boss: Sudeep

Sudeep is gearing up to make the second season of Bigg Boss an explosive one. The countdown to the show has already begun, as the makers are all set to go on screen on June 29.

Sudeep says, “For the next three months, my weekends will be spent at the Bigg Boss house. This is the same show in a new avatar and a new channel (Suvarna TV). I should credit the team of Bigg Boss 1 for the popularity of the show that has led to the making of a second season. There was a question after the first season on whether I should take up Season 2 as well. But the show got so addictive and here I am once again. I will have more responsibility this time to make it bigger and better.”

Fourteen contestants have been selected for the show, a new house has been created and many new tasks, twists and turns will be introduced this season. “It takes 14 mentally strong people to participate in the show. When the show was announced, I had a lot of celebrities calling me and asking if they would be allowed to enter the house. I would want to clarify at this moment that I have nothing to do with the selection of the contestants. I am just the host,” he explains.

Apparently, Sudeep has been bombarded with numerous messages about Bigg Boss. “I don’t get so many messages even when I start a film. But this show has gone viral and I have been receiving a lot of tweets, online messages and letters. People are curious to know who the participants and guests are, what clothes I would be wearing, whom I plan to pull up on the show, what the tagline is, etc. It is exciting to know that there are so many people talking about me and the show. I will put in my best effort,” he says.

For Sudeep, it is not just about the 14 contestants. “We will see 14 different characters entering the game, who will have different behaviour, speech and opinions. Among the contestants, I might know a few and some will be strangers too. But over the days, we will develop a relationship on screen. Every Saturday, we will become a family. I will bridge the gap between the participant and the world outside,” says Sudeep.

The tagline of this season was suggested by director and lyricist Yogaraj Bhat (Bigg Boss 2 - Tamashene Alla). Even the introduction song was done by Yogaraj Bhat. “As members of the audience, we might find it funny but for the participants it is not funny at all, because staying inside the house for three months without any communication with the outer world is not an easy task,” he says and adds, “Even for me, it is not a joke to travel there every weekend. You blink and the week is over. You go to the airport, catch a flight to Pune, take a two-hour drive to Lonavala and the routine continues. The tagline is not only for the contestants, but for me too.”
