Injury Can't Stop Gayathri

Injury Can't Stop Gayathri

South Indian actress Gayathri Iyer suffered an injury after falling on the sets of her Tamil film Meow. She fractured her right arm but the actress is not bothered by the injury and is instead excited to have bagged the second lead slot in Jaggu Dada where she is seen in a bar dancer’s role and will be seen opposite Darshan. In spite of her fracture, she has decided not to mess up the dates of film and will be joining the sets from August 22.

“The makers of my other film Tyson had to cancel their Malaysia trip for a song shoot because of my injury. Even the director of Meow managed to complete the song without much of my presence because they had already erected a huge set for the song. Now, I can’t ask another team to wait for my dates. I have explained to director Raghavendra Hegde about my injury and he told me that I will not have any heavy scenes and any dancing sequences in my first schedule. So I will be going ahead and shooting for the film. Right now, I am undergoing Ayurvedic treatment. I hope it will get healed in a few days,” says Gayathri, who is super excited and nervous at the same time to work with an actor like Darshan. “I don’t know whether I can stand and act well in front of him. That’s one thing I am really scared about. I am also looking forward to meet Urvashi mam, who plays the mother’s role in the film. As for me playing the bar dancer role, I felt it is a character to experiment with. But my role doesn’t have a dark side. It mostly has a comedy track and I found it quite interesting. They were quite keen to have me and I was equally happy to work with a new team,” she says.

The actress is happy in her newly found creative satisfaction with a kitty of good films. “Apart from my three films, I have been offered an offbeat project by director Ram, who received a National Award for his film Thangameengal.  He has also directed Katrathu Tamizh. I will be starting his project in October. A good variety of films is helping to enhance my acting abilities,” she signs off.
