Uppi Immerses Himself in Uppi 2

Filmmaking is indeed a process of making creative masterpieces amid chaotic surroundings. It is no wonder then that some directors struggle to find a space of solitude for themselves to let their creative juices flow. With Uppi 2, Upendra seems to just be in that phase.

Having completely cut himself off from everybody including his phone for the last 10 days, Uppi says he could manage to complete two song shoots. “I didn’t want any distraction. It would have got difficult to complete the scheduled shoot. Both were situational songs shot with Australian model and actress Kristina Akheeva and me at Mysore and Bengaluru,” says Uppi, who is now left with just one song, which he plans to shoot next month.

Uppi is simultaneously busy with the post-production work. “Right now the re-recording and work on other effects are going on,” he reveals.

Having embarked on a challenging subject with Uppi 2, a sequel to his 1999 film Upendra, the director philosophises, “It is very easy to understand and very difficult to follow!”.

The actor-director wants to confirm the date of release only after he gets the first copy and if everything goes well, he is planning to hit the theatres in a couple of months. And going by his commitment to the film, it is clear that he will only take up another project after Uppi 2 releases.

Meanwhile, the actor-director has planned a unique publicity strategy, which he is not yet willing to reveal. “If I reveal everything about the film now, what will be left to tickle the curiosity of the audience? In due course, the songs will be flashed on TV and the best scenes will be revealed via trailers. I am trying my best to keep everything under wraps, even though some elements have been leaked,” he says.

Upendra will play the lead in the film, while Kristina Akheeva and Parul Yadav will be the leading ladies. Apparently, even Priyanka Upendra will have a few scenes.
