Mungaru Male, in 2006, was a cult movie. So, it is no surprise that Mungaru Male 2 is creating a buzz.
There is the burden of expectations that music director Arjun Janya has to carry, to match up to the brilliant score of Mungaru Male by Manu Murthy. All eyes are on Arjun as the audio of the film releases tomorrow. He spoke to City Express.
“Mungaru Male was the team work of Yogaraj Bhat, Mano Murthy and Ganesh, among others. So when the offer was made, all I could think was that I need to keep up their good work,” he says. “Fortunately, people seemed to have loved the audio teaser, released last week. It got around 1 lakh hits.”
Arjun has not tampered with the tone and mood of Mungaru Male's music, the melody of which went straight to the heart. “But the fact is that there were no expectations when Mungaru Male was released and songs definitely made the film. Now the audience would be set on some ideas, tunes. Though the team is under pressure to satisfy the listeners, we've tried to bring in freshness in arrangement, sound, voices and lyrics," says Arjun.
The album with its five songs has singers Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal, who became a brand with Mungaru Male. Arjun has also introduced Bollywood singer Armaan Malik and Rajasthani folk singer Swaroop Khan to Kannada, and brought in our own Kannada singers Chandan Shetty and Anuradha Bhat. “I am confident that Armaan Malik will create a trend in Kannada like Sonu Nigam did with Mungaru Male," says Arjun, whose favourite song from the album is Kanasalu Nooru Baari sung by Shreya Ghoshal. “The lyrics by Shashank, Jayant kaikini, Chandan Shetty and Gopi will definitely make an impact,” he says. Arjun took a year for MM2's music, and is also scoring its background music.
