Nibunan to be high on action

A Arjun sporting a salt-and-pepper look and stepping into the shoes of an investigative officer. After calling the shots for Mohanlal in Peruchazhi, Arun Vaidhyanathan is ready with his next - this time a Tamil-Kannada bilingual titled Nibunan. “It’s an action-oriented crime thriller. Nibunan means expert and it will be called Vismaya in Kannada,” says the director.

Arjun will be playing the role of DSP Ranjit Kalidoss, a witty, skilled, and brilliant officer with a record in solving complicated crimes. “There is a series of crimes plaguing the city and the theme is presented in a new format. It has been conceived as an intelligent thriller, more like Mammootty’s CBI series in Malayalam,” says Arun about his third Tamil outing after Achchamundu Achchamundu  and Kalyana Samayal Saadham.

At the same time it’s not an out-and-out cop story. “Nibunan also shows the personal side of the cops, how they are family men as well,” he adds. While Prasanna and Varalakshmi Sarathkumar, play Arjun’s co-officers, Sruthi Hariharan, the heroine of Kannada hit Lucia, appears as his wife. Vaibhav who plays a crucial extended cameo along with Suman and Suhasani Maniratnam are also part of the cast.

One highlight of the film will be it’s high-voltage action sequences, adds Arun. The film has been shot in various locations within Tamil Nadu and Bangalore. The bilingual film is produced by Umesh, Sudhan Sundaram, Jayaram and Arun Vaidyanathan under the banner of the Passion Film Factory. The film is expected to hit the screens shortly.
