From mediocrity to stardom

From working in a routine job to playing the hero in an upcoming film, Madhusudan Vijayakumar could be a star in the making

For 24-year-old Madhusudan Vijayakumar, the initial half-hearted question was whether to choose and disturb the world around him or go on with his ordinary life as an administrative assistant with the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA). Having spent three-and-half years of routine life, he had accepted his fate. But his ambition took to the skies when he was chosen to play the lead in the upcoming film Nuggekayi. Directed by Venugopal of Thale Bachkoli Powder Hakoli fame, Madhusudan seems to have reflected infinite potential for the character, seen from the clear eye of the filmmaker.

Speaking about the life-defining break, Madhusudan says that he was ambitious but acting was never in his mind. “It was not a planned move from my end nor was it my childhood dream. I was influenced by my friends and associates, who encouraged me by saying that I had all the qualities of a film star. Their constant motivation made me hit the gym to tone my body. I then got a portfolio made to try modelling but just then I got this offer,” he shares.
According to him, he had approached various people to get a toehold in the modelling industry. “When I came across producer Preeth Hegde whom I knew before as an associate, he suggested that I take an audition and to my luck, the director of the film felt that I fit the bill,” says Madhusudan, who holds a B.Com degree.

Although he has not attended any theatre classes, Madhusudan says that he will be using the film as his learning school. “I actually planned to attend theatre classes from January, which is not possible because of the shooting schedule. So I have decided to make the most of it from this project,” says the newbie, who adds that the director is training him which is boosting his confidence.
Interestingly, Madhusudan is not yet prepared to quit his regular job and instead has taken  one month leave.
Nuggekayi will be a complete commercial film and will feature two heroines, Esther Noronha and Christina Joy, with Biradar and Suchendra Prasad among others in the cast. The muhurath of the film took place on Monday and the shoot will start from this week.
