Uppi is Very Large- Hearted, Says Rangitaranga Actress

Avantika Shetty admits that she initially had a communication problem on the sets of Kalpana 2 and felt like a stranger

After a dream debut with Rangitaranga, actress Avantika Shetty seems to have maintained the tempo, having bagged a commercial flick, Kalpana 2, for her second outing. A remake of Tamil hit, Kanchana 2, the actress gets into Tapsee Pannu’s shoes, who played an inspector in the original. The film also sees Priyamani paired opposite Upendra.

Having completed two schedules, mostly with Upendra, she tells us that initially she felt like a stranger on the sets of Kalpana 2. “I haven’t met Priyamani as yet because I had my scenes with Upendra. I did struggle with communication since the whole set used to speak only in Kannada, which was not the case during the shoot of Rangitaranga because I managed with Tulu. I admit that I was aloof because it was different for me and everybody was a stranger,” she says and adds that the portrayal of the character was not difficult. “The moment I was on board and knew I was shooting with Upendra, I was apprehensive as I knew he was a big star and how  I would do my scenes with him.  Fortunately, when I get into the character, I usually forget that I am Avantika Shetty. So the moment I faced the camera, the fear disappeared,” she says.

As for Upendra, in the 13 to 15 days she worked with him, she felt that he is a man with a large heart. “He puts in a lot of effort when shooting. Whether it is with the director or other actors, he gets involved and tries to make every scene better,” she says and adds that she will be joining the team again from Tuesday.

Ananth Raju is going according to schedule and will be completing the talkie portions by January 22nd. “We wil be shooting in the city from today and later going to Mangaluru, where we will be shooting at Thaneer Bhavi. We will then be left with songs, which will be planned according to Uppi’s schedule who will come back after he completes a schedule of Krishna Nee Begane Baaro,” says the director.
