Mufti man on a mission, to make debut in Narthan's first

Sriimurali prefers to focus on the job and not the jabber around it

Sriimurali and team have silently wrapped up the first schedule of his upcoming film, Mufti. The film started rolling sometime last month, when they revealed its first look.

Mufti, made under Jayanna Combines, is Narthan’s directorial debut. Ever since the film was announced, there were talks around the actors in the film. The excitement has not died down because Mufti will have Sriimurali and Shivarajkumar coming together for the first time.

City Express gets hold of a few pictures of the actor on the sets of Mufti. And going by his look, Sriimurali is every inch the character. He shares with us the status of the film, but without getting into the details.

Sriimurali says, “We have just finished a short schedule and it is turning out the way we planned. I am just doing my job and working towards bringing out a good film and we have another several more days of shooting.”

The actor who is on a mission to make a success of every project has even changed his working style. It is a routine he put in practice after Ugramm. Earlier he would do a film in, say, three months. But now he takes the same number of days only to finalise on a script, we hear.

The actor says his target is not just a date to complete the film but also  quality of the product. “We have a target and our own plans. Of course, we know what we are doing but I don’t want to tell everyone what I am doing,” he says.

“I don’t like to make much noise about my film, I would rather make that with it. Once I know that I have something to talk about the movie, I can get ready to blow my trumpet. Substance matters today.”

Sriimurali prefers to maintain a low profile while he is shooting and hates distractions. “People might talk xyz..., and I can’t take off from my work to sit and convince people every day what I am doing...  I would rather complete the project rather than be part of random discussions about my movie, which do not take me anywhere.”

“I have realised this after spending 13 years of my life in this industry,” says the actor. “Exaggerating about something which is not yet done only tends to make a person look like a fool.” Ugramm was an eye-opener. “It gave me a leg up and made me realise that I was meant to do something big in life and that is where I must concentrate,” he says.

“If you are not working, nothing will be available to  you on this Earth. Your efforts are appreciated only if you get the right results.” All eyes are on director Narthan. “People should come and see his work,” says the actor. “He is good and very talented, very clear and passionate about what he is doing. He loves the artistes he is working with and, moreover, he likes the hero of the movie. I enjoy watching the attitude of the director and the way he presents himself and dedicates his time for the project. My confidence in the film comes from having a good team. I like it when  people use their brains.”

Thankfully, he says, he is not surrounded by people who just give “buildups” and do nothing." Shanvi Srivastava has joined the sets of the film as the female lead. Shivarajkumar, who is playing a pivotal role, will join the sets soon.
