Kirik Party saw stupendous success and introduced two talented heroines — Rashmika Mandanna and Samyuktha Hegde — to Kannada industry. While Rashmika is busy with her next projects and is geared up to make her mark in Telugu industry, Samyuktha too has won appreciation from various filmmakers. The actress, who is back from her Roadies show, has been flooded with offers, out of which, the young talent has chosen two.
Samyuktha has just signed on a film, Vasu.. Naan Pucca Commercial opposite Anish Tejeshwar and next she will be accepting another film directed by Santhosh, of Alemari fame. The second, titled Kaalej Kumar, will be made under MR Pictures and produced by L Padmanabh. Kendasampige hero Vikky will be the hero. Its producer Padmanabh confirms Samyuktha’s role in the movie and tells City Express, “Her performance in Kirik Party was well appreciated and the role in our film demanded a heroine like Samyuktha Hegde.”
Director Santhosh says, “Kaalej Kumar is a college love story and we wanted a heroine who would be the right fit opposite Vikky. Samyuktha carries that attitude and energy in Kirik Party, it is what I wanted for this film too. I am certain that she will do justice to this role.”
About the title Kaalej Kumar, Santhosh says, “We wanted the title to sound very local and College is usually pronounced Kaalej by the boys, and it sits well with our film’s storyline.”
Now that the leads have been finalised, the team has roped in music director Arjun Janya and cinematographer T Alagan. They will soon be finalising the rest of the cast before they start shooting from May first week.
