“Today it is important to entertain the masses,” says the cinematographer-turned director, who is overjoyed about the craze his latest has generated. “I get goose bumps knowing people are gearing up for mid-night shows,” he says.

Krishna tells City Express that Hebbuli was inspired from one of the episodes of the reality show Satyamev Jayathe, which was anchored by Aamir Khan. “I have said that Hebbuli, which is a commercial film, also has a social message. The story came to me when I was watching an episode on TV two years ago and that’s when I started working on Hebbuli. I wondered why such a big issue has not caught the Nation’s attention and I hope the message will reach every nook and cranny of India with my film,” he says.

Satyamev Jayate followed a documentary style but Krishna has made sure that the movie inspired by it is a commercial entertainer, which does not lose the message. “The story was written to connect with audience who are out for entertainment and for those who look for something beyond it,” he says.
