Director Hari Santhosh, popularly known as Alemaari Santhu, has generated a lot of interest for his upcoming film Kaalej Kumar, which is to be released this Friday. This is the second film from MR Pictures, a banner promoted by Muthappa Rai,  and it is being produced by L Padmanabha.

The movie, featuring Vikky Varun and Samyukhta Hegde in lead roles, has senior actors Shruti and Ravi Shankar playing parents to the hero. This is not a regular college story and therefore there is much curiosity about the plot, and the trailer drops a hint.

Though the filmmakers remain tightlipped about certain characters, we hear that Ravi Shankar has an interesting role to play, that of a college student. This has been kept as a surprise package in Kaalej Kumar, and we look forward to another interesting character to be played by a fine actor like Ravi Shankar.

Whether he will take the front row or join the backbenchers is something the fillmmakers will reveal when the movie hits the screens.Kaalej Kumar, distributed by Jack Manju under Mysuru Talkies, has music by Arjun Janya and cinematography by Shekhar Chandra.

Ravi Shankar, was not ready to reveal about going to back to college, as it is the film’s USP. However, he was happy to share with us one of the with City Express a photo from his hay days.

The picture was taken when I was studying in 1988, when was I was in my final year B’Com. Remincising his good old days, Ravi says, “College was the best phase of my life. In fact, that was the starting point of my career. I was into a lot of extra curricular activities and got best exposure. Though I won many prizes, the best one was winning a prize as best singer at a biggest fest held at IIT, Mardigras, Chennai,” Ravi Shankar shares, and further adds, “Though I enjoyed participating in various competitions, I was also a  1st class student.”
