‘I can’t carry off bikini, but I’m cut out for glam’

Rachita Ram, half way through the shoot for Johnny Johnny Yes Papa directed byPreetham Gubbi, says that she is enjoying this glam role. One outfit she will be wearing, to emphasise the oomph factor, will be a red hot saree draped in an indo-western style.

The actress wants to present herself like never before. In the movie, she plays Priya who is from an NRI family and who is keen on going to the USA for further studies. “The role requires me to wear westernised clothes, so much so that I had to look unconventional even with a saree,” she says. “Designer Sowmya and stylist Nishara Kiran  told to give an Indo-western accent to my over-all image… Even my dialogues will be more in Kanglish. The filmmakers are paying close attention to every aspect of my style and look in Johnny Johnny…”.

Rachita is happy to be called the glamour queen, but hastens to add that there are varied interpretations to glamour. “On the one hand people assume glamour to mean wearing a bikini or blouse with plunging necklines, showing cleavage and skin. But I don’t buy into that definition. To me, glamour is beauty and being comfortable with the way you look. In fact, I don’t think I can ever carry off a bikini and I would never be comfortable wearing one for the screen. But, I  can pull off glamour. In fact, I like every shade of red and associate that with ‘glam quotient’,” says Rachita.

Who are the most glamorous heroines in Sandalwood? She says: “Ramya, Rakshita and Radhika Kumaraswamy… Ramya is an all-rounder, someone classy Rakshita is the only one who can match  to the mass. Radhika Kumaraswamy is a mix of both mass and class acts.” Johnny Johnny..., the sequel to Johnny Mera Naam, has Rachita paired opposite Duniya Vijay in the lead. The film has music by Ajaneesh Loknath and cinematography by Karunakar.
