Tarak is having a successful run at the box office, but what makes it more interesting is that Shanvi Srivastava is still living with the hangover of Meera, the character she played in the film starring  Darshan and directed by Prakash Jayaram.

The actress, who played an NRI, in Tarak says, “Honestly speaking, I have become Meera with my clothes, my  thinking and the role has affected me profoundly. I don’t know how long the film will run in theatres   but the essence of that character will stay with me until I step into another strong character.  It is  strange and even my family has started asking me about my Meera avatar”.

Her next is Mufti, in which she has an interesting role to play once again. “I took this film,  firstly for  producer Jayanna. He was keen to have me on board, and I could not say no. Even before listening to  the script, I had decided that I would take this project. Apart from script, it has a good star cast  with Sriimurali playing the lead.” she says

The actress, who plays love interest to the hero in the film, says the story is lighthearted. But,  Shanvi playing the female lead doesn’t have a song in the film, and of course that is a surprise.  “I  told them that if the movie does not demand it then don’t force it because the screenplay will go  haywire. In fact the makers had sought a public poll whether a mass film required too many songs. In  the end, they decided not to go with any duet track,” she says.

Apparently, when debutante director Narthan narrated the script to her, it was lengthy. “I think  gradually, they realised that they could not have much of my portions included, and had cut down two songs  and scenes. They could not force me into the story, and I was okay with it,” she says.

Shanvi says that people should watch Mufti mainly for the content, especially for Sriimurali and  Shivarajkumar. “If they are coming for me, they will get a few sweet expressions and little comedy  from me. I am glad that I could blend into such kind of a story and with them just not considered me  to run behind the hero,” she says.
