Jayan returns 20 years after his death

In director Vijesh Mani's new film 'Avatharam', the actor will be 'brought back to life' using blending animation.

KOZHIKODE: It's official. Actor Jayan is making an unbelievable comeback to the silver screen 20 years after his death. He has been cast by director Vijesh Mani in his film 'Avatharam' (Incarnation)!

Still confused? "Wait until February 5 and you could see the actor himself on television explaining the film," said Vijesh Mani.

"Around 20 technicians from the US are working to recreate the actor on the silver screen. We are using an advanced technology blending animation and other effects and it would be explained by the recreated Jayan through various television channels on February 5," the director said.

"Even after his death, there is a huge fan-base for him and we would like to satisfy their expectations with the help of modern technology," he said.

"The character of Jayan in the film would be entirely different and would fit into the modern styles and culture," he said. Apart from Jayan, the film casts Kalabhavan Mani, Suresh Krishna, Suman, Sudheesh and Bhiman Raghu. There will be two heroines, Shwetha Menon and a Tamil actress, he said.

"We expect to start the shooting by February 15 and will complete it within three months. The film will be short in Kozhikode and Mysore. Around Rs 2 crore will be spent on the film because of the high-end technologies," he said.

Explaining that this is the first time somebody is trying to recreate an actor who is long dead, in a film , Vijesh said no parts from Jayan's old movies would be used for the film and it would be made using the techniques of modern filmmaking.

Music direction and the lyrics are being done by Sanjay Choudhary and Vayalar Sharath Chandran, respectively.

Jayan's nephew Kannan Nair, who is working in the animation industry, is also helping the film director to recreate his uncle on the silver screen.

"I believe this movie could help change the image of my uncle portrayed by the mimicry artists," he said. T A Shahid is the scriptwriter. Richard Haley, who have worked for Hollywood films, is the production designer.

The film is being produced by Sudheer M Ramachandra Menon and Rajesh Attukal.
