When the talented actress returned to screen we thought she is all geared for a second innings. But for Navya Nair family comes first and the doting mother of two-year-old Sai will be taking another sabbatical post ‘Scene Onnu Nammude Veedu’. “I am really happy for the great feedback I got for ‘Scene Onnu Nammude Veedu’ by Shyju Anthikkad. While some said I haven’t changed a bit, some others observed that my performance has tremendously changed for the better in this film. But being a family person and especially a mother, it is much difficult to manage film and family,” Navya says.
Navya says as of now she doesn’t want to multitask and give her hundred percent to her family and kid. “So, I decided to take a long break. Let the new talents come. We should give chance for them too. There are many people who are dreaming in every breath of their life of a role in films,” she avers.
Even though the story of the film ‘Scene Onnu Nammude Veedu’ looks repetitive, Navya Nair’s character garnered much attention. She plays Manju, a school-teacher and a supportive wife who helps her husband in every odd to make his dream come true. “Like all my other characters Manju is also close to my heart and my friends and parents have appreciated my performance. I was really comfortable with such a nice character. It was the director who approached me for this film, when I heard the story I felt that I can do it with ease. It’s a nice subject and my family, especially my husband, supported whole-heartedly,” she says.
The actress says it was only after the shoot started that she realised the difficulty in balancing her career and family. ‘‘My baby is very much attached to me, he won’t eat or have bath without me. Shoots usually take a long period, around two to three months, to complete. Sometimes we will not get leave in these days,” she explains.
When asked if there are any restrictions after marriage, she says “Right from the beginning of my career I have been selective about the roles I play. You can see that looking at my films. After marriage also I struck to that principle as I wanted to do strong characters,” Navya says.
Interestingly, she is going to do a dance performance in this month at Vaikkom temple. “It’s easy to act after marriage, but not when you are busy with a two-year-old. May be I will come back one day, but that will be only at a time when I can manage work without disturbing my family,” she says.
