A veterinary doctor who sheds tears on the slightest provocation; the film Weeping Boy that hits the screen on November 29 has in store an interesting role for Sreenivasan. The film, that will see the seasoned actor in the title role, is a complete joy ride, tinged with humour, romance and a socially-relevant idea, says director Felix Joseph, a  debutant.

Weeping Boy panned against a rural backdrop has Sreenivasan playing Sahadevan, a naive veterinary doctor. When the film opens, Sahadevan is in remand.

In the midst of a counselling session with the jail counsellor, he unravels his story. As a doctor, Sahadevan reaches Kannadikkara village for practice. There, his paths cross with Faizal and Geethu, who are in love with each other. “Unpleasant issues creep in between the couple’s life, which Sahadevan tries to settle. The film takes an unexpected turn there,” explains the director. Arjun Lakshmi Narayan and Shritha Shivadas appear as the youngsters.

Felix says the story of the film is inspired from a few real-life incidents that took place while he was a student at Christ College in Irinjalakuda. “Those incidents remain fresh in my mind and I translated them into a script. I have been working on the project for a while,” says Felix who has also written the screenplay of the film. It was Sreenivasan who gave thumps up to the director to proceed with the story when he narrated the thread, three years ago.

Felix says that the film deals with a socially-relevant subject that is sure to strike a chord with many living around us. “But, I cannot reveal more about the storyline as that will mar the suspense of the movie,” says the ad-maker-turned-director who has more than 100 advertisements to his credit.

The film also has a handful of other actors like Jagadeesh, Shammi Thilakan, Ashokan, Devan, Lena, Praveena, Ravi Vallathol, Sheelu Abraham and Seema G Nair, who will be seen as the village folks.

Anand Madhusoodanan and Anil Panachoornan are the music directors of the film that has five songs. The singers are Sujith Suresan, Najeem Arshad, Sayanora, Sithara Balakrishnan, Sreenanda and Shreya Jayadeep.

Weeping Boy is produced by Abraham Mathew under the banner of Abaam Movie.
