Fun, unlimited

It’s 101 percent entertainment, silly and slap-sticky, says Aneesh Upasana about his latest film. And, true to his words, Popcorn comes with a tagline ‘chinta illa chiri matram’ promising a laugh riot. “It’s an out-and-out family fun package. The film will keep you in splits for the entire 120 minutes,” adds the director.

Popcorn, partly a road movie, is woven around cousins Sharon and Milton who set off for Nashik. “Sharon’s boyfriend goes missing all of sudden and she, along with Milton, goes in search of him,” he says. While Srinda steps into the shoes of Sharon, Soubin Shahir appears as Milton.

Shine Tom Chacko plays Kinder, a vendor of pooja articles, who lives near Mookambika. “One day he comes across a whatsapp video and falls in love with the girl in it. He lands in Kochi to woo her but the girl’s parents are not willing to marry her off to a jobless penniless man,” Aneesh explains. Kinder joins Sharon and Milton to make some quick bucks and together they create an air of nonstop hilarity.

Aneesh says ‘Popcorn’ is not a film in the conventional hero-heroine format. “It has an ensemble cast and all of them play integral roles. Soubin, who plays Martin, is a full-length character,” he says. Bhagath appears in another key role as Joy and Sudheer Karamana plays Swami Bhageerananda, a fraudster. Anjali, who essays the role of Nashik girl Yogita, is also part of the cast.   Aneesh, who has also handled the camera for the film, says it will be a visual treat. “It features some terrains we are not familiar with. So freshness of the frames will be one highlight of the film. Then Popcorn has beautiful songs as well,” he adds. Popcorn, produced by Shibu Dicvakar and Shine Gopi, will hit the screens shortly.
