Suresh has always dreamt of being an actor. The setbacks in life could only pep up his spirit and wish to see himself onscreen. The Thiruvananthapuram-native was sure that he had the mettle and just waited for the lady luck to show herself. And, it did show and Suresh is already a little star, thanks to his character in Nivin Pauly-starrer Action Hero Biju. The song ‘Muthe Ponne Pinangalle...’ in the movie is already doing rounds in the social media and Suresh is basking in its glory.
For the past 30 years, the native of Thycaud struggled as a manual labourer to eke out a living though cinema was always in his dreams. His initial attempts were to become a script writer. Suresh penned several stories and lyrics, but they were not destined to cut a path to filmdom. But he, however, used the lyrics for several CDs he produced. He went on meeting directors and things weren’t positive until he met I V Sasi in 2006.
By then, Suresh was inclined to be a director and I V Sasi offered to take him in as an assistant. But, his involvement with a political party and financial constraints forced him to drop the offer.
“But, he continued to pen lyrics. I have a monumental collection of lyrics, devotional CDs and stories penned by Suresh,” says Vijaya John, his friend.
But, destiny had other plans and things changed with Abrid Shine’s Action Hero Biju.
Suresh, however, is not letting all the new found stardom get in his away.
“I will continue as a labourer at Aristo Junction. I don’t know anything about acting and all credit goes to the director. I just followed whatever he told me. I wished to be behind the camera but luck brought me in front of it,” he adds.
Suresh was introduced to director Abrid Shine by his friend Sreejith and Boby Mohan who works in the film industry. The director saw a small Whatsapp video of his performance and was totally impressed and Suresh was in.
“Suresh always maintained perfect timing as a debut performer. There is a rhythm in his acting which surprised me. He brings in a positive vibe,” says Abrid shine.
Abrid Shine says Suresh would have a place in his next movie too. “I am sure that he will get chance to work with other directors too,” he adds.
