Aditi Ravi, lead lady of Midhun Manuel Thomas’ next Alamara, considers herself lucky that she got to make her debut in a movie where the female character really has something to do.
“What more can I ask in my debut? It is a meaty role, a wonderful script and a brilliant crew,” says Aditi Ravi who plays Swathi in Alamara.
For someone who began as a model and aspired to be an actor, the casting call for Alamara came as a turning point. “I auditioned for the role and it was the most professional audition I have ever attended. Things went well and I was confident I nailed it,” says Aditi. By next day, she received a call from the team fixing her as Swathi.
Playing Swathi
Aditi says she was at ease playing Swathi, because she is just like herself, or anyone her age, for that matter. “Swathi moves to Bengaluru where she meets the hero played by Sunny Wayne. They fall in love and get married. It’s then that the whole story starts. Alamara (cupboard) is sort of a ritual, something like a gift a bride brings to her husband’s home. The movie follows the issues and problems created by the cupboard in the household,” says Aditi.
And, how was the experience working with a team, whose last venture Ann Maria Kalippuilanu won critical and commercial acclaim. “The script by John Mantrikal is perfect. It is a satire and has been made well,” says the actor while crediting director Midhun Manuel for everything.
“Alamara is a director’s movie and Midhun owns it,” she adds.
Future projects
Aditi’s first movie is yet to hit the screens but she has already signed her next opposite Tovino Thomas.
“Tick Tock is my next. It is a time-travel movie. Though the movie was announced last year, it will go on the floors this year,” says Aditi Ravi.
