Who wasn't carried away by Nandini Srikar's poignant singing in Bhare Naina in Ra.One? Tamil filmmaker Vasanth clearly was! Which is how the singer got an opportunity to re-enter Kollywood with the filmmaker's Moondru Per Moondru Kadhal.
“I listened to Nandini's song in Ra.One and wanted her to sing for my film too. It was only when we contacted her that we realised she is actually a South Indian and has sung in Tamil earlier,” recounted the director, who is currently shooting the film in the city.
For MPMK, Nandini has crooned a solo Aaha Kadhal, which was recorded in Mumbai by the film’s music composer Yuvan Shankar Raja.
Nandini Sirkar is no new voice in Kollywood and has already sung the playful I Love You song for Ajith's film Uyirodu Uyiraaga (1998). She later crooned the differently-orchestrated tribal song Africa Kaatupuli for the Kamal Haasan starrer Aalavandhan (2001).
Apart from Nandini, Sonu Nigam has sung for the film.
