One of the most awaited films is Biriyani, coming as it is, from the Mankatha director Venkat Prabhu. In addition, expectations are also high because of the fresh pairing of Karthi and Hansika.
Add that to a friendship and comedy track between Karthi and Premgi, and you have a laugh riot waiting to happen. The unit of the film, which had been shooting in Pondicherry and surrounding areas earlier, is now taking a break. But Venkat Prabhu is soon set to return to the shoot and head to the Iberian peninsula with his team, where he has chose to shoot two songs in keeping with the stylish look for the film.
Speaking to City Express, Venkat discloses, “We will be heading to Spain and Portugal in May to shoot two songs. It will be a ten day schedule with Karthi and Hansika. That will be the last schedule of the film. By June 10 we will be wrapping up the shoot.” Venkat has zeroed in on scenic locales in the two Mediterranean countries, and will be shooting around historic buildings and along the beachfront. “Kalyan Master is choreographing the songs. Both songs will have a certain concept,” he says.
Venkat has already recorded two songs of the film with cousin Yuvan Shankar Raja. One of them is a party song that has been sung by Karthi, Venkat and Premgi. Yuvan has reportedly composed two more songs and only two more are left for him to work on, which are both background songs, to be shown in montage.
Venkat has also taken great care to change the look of his hero. It may be recalled that he gave ‘Thala’ Ajith the salt and pepper natural look in Mankatha which became a rage. Venkat reveals that he has made Karthi look cooler, with a makeover of sorts. Right from hair style to eye lens colour, Venkat has it all worked out.
“Karthi is busy shooting with Rajesh for All in All Azhaghu Raja right now. So we are taking a break. But producers Studio Green have everything planned out. When Karthi gets free from that schedule, he will resume the Biriyani shoot once again, around the end of March, in Hyderabad. After a break, we will re-commence the shoot in Chennai in April, for a few days,” he concludes.
