Gautham Karthik in 'Ala Modalaindi' remake

He has not yet begun shooting for his second Tamil project, in which he plays a college student, but actor Gautham Karthik has bagged the Tamil remake of Telugu blockbuster "Ala Modalaindi".

Confirming the news, director Ravi Thyagarajan said: "Gautham has been roped in for the Tamil remake of 'Ala Modalaindi'. He will reprise the role originally played by Nani. The search for the rest of the cast and crew is underway and we are likely to start shooting soon."

"The film will be canned in places such as Mysore, Hyderabad and a few international locales," he added.

Nani was paired with Nithya Menon in the original, which was one of the highly successful Telugu films of 2012. Made on a low budget, it reportedly raked in over Rs.15 crore at the box-office.

Yet-to-be-titled, the film will be produced by P. Ravikumar and P.V. Prasad under the banner Ravi Prasad productions.

D. Imman has been roped in as the composer.

Meanwhile, Gautham will begin work on his second project with director Saravanan from April.
