While the box office ripples created by movies like Goli Soda, Ahaa Kalyanam and Pannaiyarum Padminiyum are yet to calm down, there is another wave of films gushing in. There are four Tamil releases this Friday – Vallinam, Thegidi, Amara and Panivizhum Malarvanam.

Vallinam marks the return of Arivazhagan Venkatachalam, director of the horror flick Eeram. From ghostly water, the director now takes a penchant for basketball. The sports drama stars Nakul of Boys fame, and newcomer Mrudhula Bhaskar in the lead roles. The film is already buzzing on Twitter with the news that the end credits will show Ajith in a race jersey.

If sports doesn’t give you enough adrenalin rush, a murder mystery would. Thegidi, directed by P Ramesh and produced by C V Kumar, aptly features the Pizza 2: Villa boy Ashok Selvan and Avan Ivan girl Janani Iyer in the leading roles.

And if you need something more than exhaustive sports and eerie murder to flavour your weekend, comedy flick Panivizhum Malarvanam would be the right choice. What could beat a ferocious tiger playing a full-fledged role?

Meanwhile, do not forget to catch Imman’s melody in Amara. Directed by Jeevan, the film’s starcast includes newbies.
