Fitness calling!

CE chats with actor Rakul Preet Singh, who recently launched a gym and is prepping to conduct a health workshop soon

Former Miss India-actor Rakul Preet Singh, who did films like Venkatadri Express (2013), Thadaiyara Thaakka (2012) and Yennamo Yedho (2014), loves to work out, and recently she launched a gym F45 in Hyderabad. Owned by Pradeep, she has taken a franchise, and it is being managed by her brother Aman, a fitness enthusisast as well. Now, she’s gearing up for a five-day health workshop soon.

“I have always been interested in business investments and fitness. This got me excited and I went ahead with the franchise. I hope to spend more time gymming when I don’t have shooting commitments. I’ll take anything related to food, fitness and movies,” she laughs.

What’s the USP of her gym? “It’s a high-end fitness centre that has the best equipment for those who come to work out. There are efficient and trained instructors. We have everything including ropes and trawlers,” she adds.

Rakul says that missing workouts makes her cranky. “No matter what, I work out everyday. My friends keep saying that I should have become a gym trainer, but I became an actor. If I don’t work out for two consecutive days, I’ll be the grumpiest person you’ll come across. I always tell people to never take their body for granted and it’s mandatory for you to understand how the whole mechanism works,” she smiles.

The pretty actor walked out of Mysskin’s Thupparivaalan, starring Vishal in the lead, citing date issues, and the team found Anu Emmanuel as her replacement. “I am busy with multiple projects including Dhruva with Ram Charan,  the Telugu remake of Thani Oruvan, AR Murugadoss-Mahesh Babu’s bilingual, another with Naga Chaitanya and a couple of Telugu films. I never thought I would back out. Mysskin is one of my favourite filmmakers. The shooting was supposed to start in June; but it didn’t. I had no choice as it got delayed,” she tells us.

Up next, she plays a  sprinter in Sai Dharam Tej’s next. “I have been asked to stick to the low calorie diet. I’m an avid foodie. Playing a no-nonsense athlete was of a great experience as this is unlike any character I’ve played so far. Keeping myself fit finally paid off!” she chuckles.
