Prashanth G Sekar, who worked as an assistant director with Hari in Singam 2 (2013), has turned an independent filmmaker with Yaanum Theeyavan, a romantic thriller, which has Ashwin Jerome and Varsha Bollamma, in the lead roles. “The story is based on real-time crime incidents, combined with romantic experiences. It’s about a couple, who fall into a trap post their marriage and how they come of it,” says Prasanth.
The debutant director is also excited to have versatile choreographer-actor Raju Sundaram on board as a villain. He adds, “When I met Raju master, he asked me if his character was that of a comic villain. Later, I narrated the script to him and he was thoroughly impressed. He has undergone a makeover for this film.”
The team was particular to complete the entire film in Chennai. He laughs, “Our producer suggested that we shoot in some exotic locations. But I told him that I wanted to show the city in a much more beautiful way. For one of the duet songs, we shot in Chrompet.”
Achu Rajamani is the music director. VTV Ganesh and Ponvannan are a few among the supporting cast.
