No meaningful roles for female leads in the south: Samantha

Samantha is one of the most talked-about actors in K’town! We had reported earlier that she walked out of Dhanush’s gangster-drama Vada Chennai last month, and now is a part of Sivakarthikeyan’s film, to be directed by Ponram of Rajini Murugan (2016) fame.

It looks like she’s not bothered by the numbers game in cinema but believes in giving her best in whatever she does. She lives in the moment and enjoys doing projects with established actors and directors.

The Neethane En Ponvasantham (2012) actor wrote on Twitter, “Realising just how hard it is to get a meaningful role for a heroine in the south (sic).” Her other tweet read, “I haven’t signed as many films as I’d like to because there are no good roles. As disheartening as it is to say (sic).”

Meanwhile, we hear she will play the role of a girl-next-door in this yet-to-be-titled flick, where she’s paired opposite Sivakarthikeyan. Sources say that the shooting will begin by next year in January.
