Grapevine has it that Samuthirakani, who was last seen in Thondan, might collaborate with director Priyadarshan on his untitled Tamil remake of the Malayalam film, Maheshinte Prathikaaram. The two have earlier worked together in the 2016 Mohanlal starrer, Oppam.
Priyadarshan, who is not new to remakes, reportedly liked the actor’s work in Oppam, and is looking to cast him in the role of an antagonist for his next. Talks are ongoing between the actor and the director over the dates, as Samuthirakani has a long list of projects in the pipeline.
Udhayanidhi Stalin has been signed to play the lead, which was originally played by Fahadh Faasil in the National Award-winning film. Actress Namitha Pramod, who made her Tamil debut with En Kadhal Pudhithu, has apparently been roped in to play the female lead.
It is expected that Priyadharshan will make appropriate changes to Maheshinte Prathikaaram to suit the sensibilities of the Tamil audience.
