Sangamitra launched at Cannes

Jayam Ravi’s upcoming multilingual historic film, Sangamitra, was launched at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival on Wednesday.

Jayam Ravi’s upcoming multilingual historic film, Sangamitra, was launched at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival on Wednesday.

The lead cast along with the makers left for Cannes on Tuesday night, when the actor tweeted, “Off to Cannes for the launch of Sangamitra. A dream come true.”

Meanwhile, an official statement from director Sundar C reveals that Sangamitra, which will be told in two parts, is a tale that goes back to the 8th century AD and tells the trials and tribulations of the titular character, and traces her journey to save the kingdom.

Also starring Arya and Shruti Haasan, this is said to be “a piece of fiction, which will explore India’s ancient history in the most visually beautiful manner.” Produced by Sri Thenandal Films, the project will be made in Tamil, Telugu and will be dubbed in Hindi.
