Megastar’s MEK begins with a splash

Says Nag assured him he will be the best as the host

Will I be able to carry this off? Megastar Chiranjeevi battled with that thought a few months ago when he was asked to host Meelo Evaru Koteeeswarudu (MEK) on Maa TV, which is now Star Maa. But his peer and actor Nagarjuna Akkineni apparently assured him that he was the boss and that he would be the best to play the host. The actor-turned-politician revealed this to the media on Sunday while talking about his new show.

MEK, a programme inspired by the popular quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati, began on Monday (9:30 pm). The show was earlier hosted by Akkineni Nagarjuna in the recent seasons and now the role has been handed over to Chiranjeevi, to give it a different and fresh feel. The actor  said he is excited and ready to experience the new role of hosting a quiz show. “My debut on small screen,” he said.  “MEK will entertain and educate the audience.  You  can expect celebrities to come as participants in the following episodes,” he added.
Simultaneously, Maa TV announced the launch of its new branding with a new logo and tagline. Maa TV will now be Star Maa with the tagline “Ade Bandham.. Sarikotta Uttejam” (same bond... new enthusiasm).
Star Maa (after Star TV’s acquisition of Maa TV) will launch a new non-fiction comedy show Desamudurulu from Friday, Kevin Vazm CEO, South Region Star India, informed.
