The Telugu film industry today condoled the death of veteran actress Sridevi, who acted in over 80 Telugu films.

HYDERABAD: The Telugu film industry today condoled the death of veteran actress Sridevi, who acted in over 80 Telugu films.

TDP's Rajahmundry MP Maganti Murali Mohan, who had acted with Sridevi in Telugu movie "Bangarakka", said she should be conferred with the prestigious Dada Saheb Phalke award and he will take up the matter in the upcoming Parliament session.

"We expected more films from Sridevi. But, her sudden demise has rendered shock to her fans and cinema industry. It would be apt if the government confers the Dada Saheb Phalke award on Sridevi in recognition of her contribution to cinema industry. I will take up this matter in the upcoming session of Parliament beginning from March 5," Mohan said.

"We acted together in 'Bangarakka' film. It was at that time itself I felt that she will become a big star in the cinema industry," Mohan added.

Veteran actor Krishna with whom Sridevi acted in more than 25 films also mourned her death.

Jana Sena Party President and Telugu film actor Pawan Kalyan, super star Mahesh Babu, actor Junior NTR were among those who also condoled Sridevi's death.

Mahesh Babu took to micro-blogging site Twitter and said,

Meanwhile, the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana Governor E S L Narasimhan also expressed shock over Sridevi's death.

"I am deeply shocked at the sudden demise of actor Sridevi, a talented and versatile actor.

I offer my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family," Narasimhan said in a condolence message issued by the Raj Bhavan.

Sridevi passed away in Dubai last night.
