A promise in a bangle

It’s not just another bangle, it’s a Promise. And the first in-house product launched by multi-designer jewellery brand, Nimai. This special bangle, available in two options—gold and rose gold polish—comes with a secret compartment to store a pencil and a paper parchment to help one write a message and store it inside  the bangle. What’s more, it has been designed by acid attack survivor, Laxmi Agarwal.

“Since our inception in 2013, we envisioned a platform where people, purpose, business and soul connect with a mutual love for jewellery. It’s not just about another experience of wearing an ornament, but an instrument of hope, change and promise. This thought inspired us to create Nimai’s first product aptly titled, Promise,” says Pooja Roy Yadav, the company’s founder and CEO.

Talking about the concept that drew her to Nimai, Laxmi says, “It is an unsaid promise to oneself that only adds to the reason of buying and wearing a piece of jewellery.” A victim of an acid attack at 15, Laxmi is a fighter who stood up for herself and many other survivors by encouraging them to break their silence on the ills of acid attack. For her, the product means her indefatigable spirit, a promise to rise above all odds, and shine brighter than before.

About choosing Laxmi, Pooja says, “Laxmi is an epitome of strength and symbolises empowerment for many other acid attack survivors. With the purchase of every bangle, Nimai’s promise towards Laxmi grows stronger—we will give away three per cent of the proceeds to fulfil her aspirations,” says Pooja.
