First, it was Android 4.4.1 updates that started appearing on the Nexus 4 and 7. Within weeks, Google has already begun hinting at the 4.4.2 updates, to be available on Nexus, 4, 5, 7 and 10. There have also been rumours of manual download links appearing on these devices.

There has been no official announcement. However, here’s what the announcement made by Sprint, had to say. The Android 4.4.2 update might come with a build number KOT49H; this is definitely a minor step in the direction of upgrading from its predecessor.

The size of the update will also vary among Nexus devices. For instance, the size of the 4.4.2 KitKat update on a Nexus 5 is about 54MB, while on the Nexus 7 tablet, the update is about 40MB.

According to sources, this update might bring about changes in the camera performance of the Nexus 5, like faster shooting, less shutter lag and more accurate focusing.

The update 4.4.1 Kitkat had supposedly brought about similar changes in the camera performance of the Nexus 5. However some of them were remarkably different; faster focussing, particularly in low light situations; quicker white balancing for truer colours; ability to pinch-zoom the viewfinder in HDR+ mode.

The Android 4.4.2 update will be accessible OTA (over-the-air).
