The suspense over the next Rajasthan Chief Minister came to an end when Ashok Gehlot was formally announced as the Rajasthan CM-designate.
Sachin Pilot will be the deputy chief minister, Congress party's observer for Rajasthan K C Venugopal announced in a press conference on Friday.
After being named the chief minister, Gehlot said, "Sachin Pilot and I will give good governance in Rajasthan."
Following the meeting earlier on Thursday, Rahul took to Twitter to share a photo with Gehlot and Pilot stating "united colours of Rajasthan", hinting at a possible resolution. With MP and Rajasthan off the table the next state waiting for Rahul's CM pick is Chhattisgarh.

CM designate Kamal Nath will meet Governor Anandiben Patel today in Raj Bhavan to stake claim to form a government in Madhya Pradesh.
Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot both have reached Rahul Gandhi's residence in Delhi for a second round of meetings with the party president.

As per media reports all the elected MLA's in Rajasthan will meet the Governor at his residence at 6:30 pm today and will stake claim to form the government.

Although there has been no official announcement from the Congress, party sources have claimed that Cabinet portfolios will be divided equally between both the Gehlot and Pilot factions.

Ashok Gehlot, a two-time Chief Minister from Rajasthan is also the Congress party's general secretary. The 67-year-old has maintained a good relation with the party members with his accessible nature.
However, under his leadership in 2013, the party suffered a massive defeat where they managed to secure only 21 seats.Sources have suggested that Ashok Gehlot has been selected as the next CM of Rajasthan.
