Mumbai hospital fire: Six dead, over 140 rescued

The firefighters have labelled the disaster as a 'grade-4' fire which comes under the category of severe fire.

MUMBAI: A massive fire broke out on Monday evening at the government-run Employees State Insurance Corporation(ESIC) Kamgar Hospital located at Marol of the suburban district.

As per the latest reports, six persons have lost their lives in the fire accident while more than 140 who were trapped have been rescued from the raging flames. There are still many feared trapped in the fire, said officials.

The emergency system of the hospital was not inspected in last two years, said sources.

Mumbai mayor Vishwanath Mahadeswar said, the fire was classified as grade '4', which means severe fire.

Condition of around six to eight people admitted to four different hospitals is said to be critical.

 The rescue team has shifted the injured to city's Cooper, P Thakrey, Holi Spirit, Seven Hills, Hiranandani and Sidhharth hospitals.
