Bring in da Noise, Bring in da Funk

I have been an artist all my life, and had my first exhibition when I was 18. With respect to life, I’ve always had a sense of wanting to hug the whole universe, try everything, and explore every possibility. I guess that’s what prompted me start my own product design firm,” says actor-model-designer Lekha, who did her undergraduate degree in art, followed by a master’s in lifestyle product design and filmmaking at National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad. In 2013, she founded Ajji, The Odd Product Company that retails, mostly, cosy, monochromatic, sink chairs. The Drop chair, very unlike a chair, is suspended from the ceiling, the Dot chair looks like a bright little hole in the wall. The Pink Sink  in neon lyrca fits the body like a sausage casing. “A chair that looks like there’s no way you can sit on it...until you do,” is how she defines this one. Her favourite project has been collaborating with Jean Francois Lessage for embellished Drop chairs for Chennai’s Apparao galleries.
